Featherstone Rovers made two wins from two in the Championship after a 36-6 win over Swinton Lions at Heywood Road.

The Rovers took the lead inside five minutes, as Gareth Gale got over in the corner after being put through by a Nu Brown offload. Brown was off-target with the conversion attempt, meaning they led by four points.

10 minutes later, Featherstone got their second try, as Tom Holmes gathered his own kick to score. Brown added the conversion as the Rovers reached double figures.

Featherstone got their third try straight from the kick-off, as Thomas Minns went straight through and scored. Brown missed the conversion attempt.

A fourth try came for the visitors, just six minutes before the break. Brad Day managed to get over in the corner. Brown scored the conversion as the Rovers hit 20 points.

They asserted their dominance right on half-time, as John Davies got himself over out wide. Brown scored the conversion to make it a 26 point-lead at the break.

Just before the hour mark, Ben Blackmore was able to get in on the act for Featherstone, after getting on the end of a Holmes kick to score. Brown was off-target with the conversion attempt.

Swinton hit back five minutes later, as Mitch Cox was able to get through. Martyn Ridyard scored the conversion.

But the final word would go to the visitors. Blackmore was able to race down the left-edge and get his second try of the afternoon. Brown scored the conversion to round off a good day’s work for Fev.

Both sides return to Championship action next week. Swinton face York City Knights next Sunday, while Featherstone face Whitehaven on the same day.
