Catalans Dragons returned to winning ways after a 38-18 victory over Wakefield Trinity at the Mobile Rocket Stadium.

The Dragons took the lead on nine minutes, as Tom Davies finished a flowing move in the corner. James Maloney missed the conversion attempt, meaning their lead stayed at four points.

Wakefield hit back just a few minutes later. Olly Ashall-Bott stepped inside and marked his debut with a try. Mason Lino scored the conversion to edge Trinity two points in front.

Catalans retook the lead on the 20 minute mark. Mike McMeeken rose highest from a kick by Josh Drinkwater to score. Maloney was on target to put the Dragons ahead by four.

Just three minutes later, Davies went over for his second. A cutout pass found the winger in space, who went over in the corner. Maloney was off-target with the conversion, but added a penalty soon after.

Wakefield hit back again just before the half-hour. Max Jowitt’s grubber kick forward was collected by the fullback, who went over for the try. Lino kicked the conversion to bring them back within four points.

The Dragons managed another try before half-time. They found joy down the right-hand side once again, this time it was Dean Whare who barged over. Maloney was off-target with the conversion attempt.

Trinity hit back first in the second half with Reece Lyne managing to shake off a tackle attempt to get over. Lino scored the conversion to leave just two points in it.

With 12 minutes to go, Catalans moved clear again. They somehow kept the ball alive, with McMeeken’s offload finding Whare, who went over for his second. Maloney missed the conversion, but added a penalty soon after.

Davies then got his hat-trick with another acrobatic effort in the corner. Maloney added the conversion to put the Dragons 14 points ahead.

There was even time for one more try, as Drinkwater’s kick found Langi to go over. Maloney converted to round off the night for the Dragons.
