St Helens Head Coach Kristian Woolf has been talking about his sides forward options with the news James Bentley is set for a significant spell on the sidelines.
The club confirmed earlier that Bentley had broken his leg and damaged his ankle. An injury which will require surgery, although it won’t rule him out of the rest of the season at this stage.
On his forward options, he said: “We’ve got a few middle forwards out at the moment. So that means we are leaning on people like Joe Batchelor and Jake Wingfield, and some of the older players like Kyle Amor and Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook.
“Those guys all get to play more of a role and take on more responsibility as well. The positive of that is we are building our squad while we are doing that.
“Jake Wingfield has played three or four games now, and has looked really comfortable and he has been getting better every game. Joe Batchelor is in the same boat. He’s a hard worker and exactly what our club is about.
“It’s great to give them experience and allow them to become better players. It’s all positive for the future.”
