Whitehaven overturned a first half deficit and posted 36 unanswered points against Oldham to win 36-4 at Bower Fold.

In tough, wet conditions, no points were scored until just before the half-hour. Callum Green managed to get over after being put through by Lewis Charnock. Dan Abram missed the conversion attempt, meaning their lead stood at four points.

Whitehaven were able to get level just before the break. Liam Cooper was able to get through and score. Lachlan Walmsley converted to send Haven in the lead going into half-time.

Three minutes into the second half, Haven stretched their advantage, with Jesse Joe Parker scoring the try. Walmsley converted to open up an eight-point advantage.

It was soon two tries in four minutes for the visitors. Callum Phillips got himself onto a short ball and went over. Walmsley kicked the conversion attempt.

On the hour, Phillips was able to get over for his second try. Walmsley was again on hand to kick the conversion for the visitors.

It was proving to be a day to remember for Phillips, who completed his hat-trick with eight minutes to go. Walmsley maintained his perfect record with the boot.

Phillips then rounded off the afternoon with a fourth try just four minutes later. Walmsley ended the game with a 100-per-cent kicking record.

That result meant a second win of the season for Whitehaven, after their earlier win at home to Newcastle Thunder. They are back in action next Sunday when they welcome Toulouse to the LEL Arena.
