Dewsbury Rams held off a second half comeback from Swinton Lions to win 20-18 at Heywood Road.

Tries from Andy Gabriel, Michael Knowles and Keenan Tomlinson had the Rams 16-0 up going into half-time. Paul Sykes also added a penalty after an incident that saw Paddy Jones sent to the sin bin.

However, Swinton got themselves back into it thanks to tries from Mitch Cox, but two more penalties from Sykes edged the Rams clear.

The Lions threatened to make it interesting late on with a quick double from Billy Brickhill, but they could not find the extra two points they needed.

That defeat leaves Swinton rooted to the foot of the table, after a winless start so far. As for Dewsbury, it was a welcome win for them after three straight defeats.
