Wigan Warriors Head Coach Adrian Lam has confirmed fullback Bevan French will see a surgeon on Thursday after tearing his hamstring.
French was forced off the pitch during their 17-16 win over Salford Red Devils on Saturday afternoon, and Lam confirmed he could face several months out on the sidelines.
He said: “He’s had a scan and is seeing a surgeon in the next 48 hours. We will know more on Thursday.
“On first glance, it didnt look good. It seems to be longer than a normal lower hamstring tear. The length of time will be decided by the surgeon.
“He’s a very important player for our team. But its business as usual, and we will have to get on with it.
“He will be out for at least a month. When you look at Jai Field as an example, you can have grade one, two and three and a four. They are between six and eight weeks and any operation is 12 weeks onwards. Fingers crossed that is not the case, but we are hopeful.”
