Newcastle Thunder have completed the signings of Hull KR forward Owen Harrison and Wigan Warriors centre Sam Halsall on loan deals.
Halsall has signed on a two-week loan deal, while Harrison has signed for the rest of the season.
Harrison has made 14 appearances for Hull KR since his debut in 2019, and has spent time in the Championship on loan at Dewsbury Rams.
Reacting to the move, he said: “I’m really looking forward to getting going with Thunder. It’s almost a year since I last played so I can’t wait to rip in and enjoy playing rugby again.
“It’s been a tough year with covid and I’ve had a bit of injury so I’ve had about six weeks off prior to coming to Thunder, so to start with I’m looking to build up my match fitness and then working on developing how I play the game.
“I want to crack Super League and playing well for Thunder is a stage towards getting there. It’s all well and good training full time but nothing like playing a game and I need to be back playing rugby.”
Halsall made his Wigan debut in 2020 during the 42-0 defeat against St Helens. He has made one appearance this season, in the Challenge Cup against York City Knights.
He added: “I’m looking forward to being at Thunder, I’m looking to prove myself and starting making a name for myself by playing the best I can. I’m looking forward to working with two good coaches and a good squad who I can learn off.
“As a player, I like having the ball in my hands, using space and to be aggressive in defence. I like to trust my speed to help me out.”
