Sheffield Eagles managed to hold off a second half fight back from Oldham to win 32-28 at Bower Fold.

Tries from James Glover and Rob Worrincy had Sheffield in control early on, before Max Roberts responded almost straightaway for Oldham.

Glover grabbed his second before the break, before Dan Abram scored another for Oldham.

Aaron Brown then extended Sheffield’s lead and Worrincy completed his hat-trick to make it 32-12 with just over an hour gone.

But back came Oldham. Tries from Martyn Reilly, Liam Kirk and Tommy Brierley got Oldham back within four points, but they could not find that crucial score to level.

For Sheffield, it was a welcome victory to get them looking uo the table again. Meanwhile, Oldham missed the chanve to put a bit of distance between themselves and Newcastle Thunder in the final relegation place.
