Batley Bulldogs held off a second half comeback from York City Knights to win 22-20 at the LNER Community Stadium.

First half tries from Luke Hooley and Jodie Broughton had the Bulldogs 10-0 up at half-time.

York fought back, with two tries from Kieran Dixon, and another from Ben Jones-Bishop turning the game around and putting the Knights into a 18-10 lead.

Broughton pulled one back for Batley just after Jones-Bishop was sent to the sin bin for obstruction. Then, Dixon scored a penalty to extend their lead to four points.

But Lucas Walshaw struck with six minutes to go to level the scores. Hooley’s conversion then put Batley back in front, and that was the way it stayed.
